Trump Administration Creates New Bar to Asylum

November 8, 2018 By Lakshmi Nayar

Now the bad news of the day #1.
The Trump administration announced new rules today that would, in effect, create a bar to asylum for certain individuals who cross the border at a place that is not a port of entry.

Asylum is a humanitarian protection afforded to those who fear persecution in their home country on account of their race, religion, nationality, political opinion or membership in a particular social group. This administration has gone out of its way to remove protections for asylum seekers, the most vulnerable of people. We find this incomprehensible.
