On Thursday, July 20, 2017, Sens. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., and Dick Durbin, D-Ill., reintroduced legislation which would allow certain young immigrants the chance to earn permanent residency in the U.S. and be provided with a pathway toward citizenship. Under the bill, immigrants must have entered the country before the age of 17 and must have come to the country prior to 2013. They must also have graduated from high school or obtained a GED, and they must pass a criminal background check and be proficient in English. Of course, this bill has a long way to go before it becomes law. Watch yesterday’s press conference.
